Leveraging Ambiq’s proprietary TurboSPOT™ technology platform, the Apollo3 Blue Plus MCU increases the computational capabilities of its integrated Arm® Cortex®-M4 processor with Floating Point Unit to 96 MHz while lowering the active power consumption to < 6 μA/MHz. This combination dramatically reduces energy consumption while still enabling abundant application processing power to add greater capability and extended life to battery-operated devices. Purpose-built for wearables, the Apollo3 Blue Plus includes an integrated DMA engine, QSPI interface, and advanced stepper motor control for ultra-low power analog watch hand management. In addition, the Apollo3 Blue Plus comes with a dedicated second core for the ultra-low power Bluetooth Low Energy 5 connectivity platform, providing superior RF throughput and leaving plenty of resources available for user applications. The Apollo3 Blue Plus adds two additional MSPI modules (3 total) and increases the external memory execute-in-place (XiP) aperture from 64MB to 96MB (32MB/MSPI instance). Other upgrades include internal flash from 1MB to 2MB; SRAM from 384KB to 768KB (TCM size remains at 64KB); and the GPIO count from 50 to 74.
The Apollo3 Blue Plus also forms the core of Ambiq’s Voice-on-SPOT (VoS) platform, making it the perfect microprocessor for enabling always-on voice assistant integration and command. With the new Apollo3 Blue Plus Secure, OEMs have the option to offer additional security by implementing Ambiq’s SecureSPOT on the most popular MCU. The SecureSPOT is Ambiq’s technology platform with optimized hardware and software to provide a Secure by Design environment to device OEMs. SecureSPOT 1.0, available now in the Apollo3 Blue Plus, includes secure boot, secure over-the-air (OTA) and wired updates, secure debug, and key revocation, among other features, to protect product design against cyber-attacks and unauthorized cloning.
