Sr Physical Design Engineer, Power Lead

The Senior Physical Design, Power Lead Engineer is responsible for the Power signoff of the Full Chip design. This includes defining, creating and maintaining Power Analysis flows with CAD tools.  In addition, the Senior Physical Design Engineer will be responsible for defining, developing, and supporting a unique ultra-low power technique for Ambiq’s SPOT Platform.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Own signoff static and dynamic IR and signal and power EM for Ambiq’s MCU SOC’s.
  • Own, maintain, implement and improve a CAD flow for power integrity, power signoff for ultra-low power SoC based on subthreshold operation.
  • Create low power design methodology, power up and down scenarios to improve leakage and dynamic power of the design.
  • Work closely with Digital and Analog Design Teams to run the aforementioned CAD flow for multiple concurrent SoC designs.
  • Work with Architecture Teams and Implementation Team to get all low power best practices incorporated in the design.


We are looking for a Senior Power Lead, Physical Design Engineer with hands on experience on Power signoff and Power analysis.  A deep knowledge of low power techniques is extremely important.

Specific Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in ECE/EE and 10+ years of experience required.
  • Expertise in full chip power signoff for static and dynamic IR, Power and Signal EM.
  • Experience in ESD analysis and closure.
  • Experience in creating power grid views for analog and custom blocks is desirable.
  • Understand power analysis, power calculations and low power techniques.
  • Experienced with power grid design and analysis.
  • Motivated, self-driven engineer with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of the Cadence tool flow, Voltus is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
