Scope and Responsibilities:

Ambiq’s Software and Solutions Team is looking for an Embedded Audio Software Engineer. Candidate will be working with a global development team, focusing on audio software framework development and test activities. Candidate will also be responsible for designing software architecture, interfaces, audio layout, data path and scripts and integrating algorithms from third parties, supporting audio data path and performance testing during pre and post silicon phases of the product to ensure proper audio functionality and performance.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the definition and architecture HAL interfaces and device drivers of the SDK for audio and voice applications, such as ADC, PDM, I2S, TDM, smart amplifiers, microphones etc.
  • Develop and maintain HAL interfaces and device drivers for audio and voice applications.
  • Bring-up, verify, and debug audio hardware interfaces such as ADC/DAC/PDM/I2S.
  • Develop unit test plans for the various SDK components and applications.
  • Implement and execute test cases as defined in the test plan.
  • Assist with the definition and development of the test automation harness for these components.
  • Develop and/or assist with the development of script-based automation for the SDK components and packages.

Experience Required:

The Embedded Audio Software Engineer must have experience in MCU audio hardware components and software system development and tuning. Experience with audio applications in wearable devices is preferred. This person must have significant experience developing for and debugging on Arm based platforms.

  • MS in ECE or Computer Science and 3+ years of experience or BS ECE/CS with 5+ years of experience
  • Experience developing embedded MCU code in C and assembly language required
  • Experience developing firmware for Arm Cortex M4F Processors or similar processors required
  • Experience with at least one MCU IDE from Arm, Keil, IAR, Eclipse or other
  • Experience with audio hardware interfaces and codec such as ADC/DAC/PDM/I2S/TDM and etc.
  • Experience with embedded RTOS required, FreeRTOS preferred
  • Experience working hands-on in the lab
  • Experience with source code control systems (git) required
  • Excellent problem-solving skills dealing with complex system level issues related to hardware/software debug
  • Experience with scripting languages required and python experience is specifically desirable
  • Knowledge of digital filter and signal processing is a plus
